Banda Aceh, July 29, 2025 – The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), successfully held a Scientific Publication Writing Workshop for Reputable Journals on Monday, July 28, 2025. The event took place in the Faculty Senate Room, Building A, 2nd Floor of FMIPA USK, from 08.00 a.m. to 06.00 p.m.

The workshop featured three distinguished speakers, all experts in scientific writing and research dissemination:

  • Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ismail (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia) – Strategies for Writing Scientific Articles for Reputable International Journals Indexed in Scopus
  • Prof. Dr. Eng. Nasrullah Idris, M.T. (Universitas Syiah Kuala, Aceh) – Structure of Scientific Articles and Writing Techniques
  • Prof. Dr. Eng. Elin Yusibani, M.Eng. (Universitas Syiah Kuala, Aceh) – Strategies for Writing Scientific Articles for Reputable National Journals

The discussions and presentations were moderated by Dr. Zulkarnaen Djalil, M.Si., Anla Fet Hardi, S.Si., M.Si., and Dr. Edwar Iswady, M.Si.

Throughout the workshop, the speakers shared comprehensive insights on how to identify credible publishers, strategies to avoid predatory journals, and effective steps in scientific article writing. They emphasized that the selection of an appropriate publisher is a crucial step in ensuring the quality, visibility, and impact of scientific work.

One of the key takeaways from the session was the reminder that “Good writing is not produced in a single sitting.” This highlighted the importance of continuous improvement through revisions, strengthening arguments, and maintaining academic integrity in every stage of writing.

The event also featured a dynamic and interactive discussion session, where participants, including lecturers, postgraduate students, and researchers, actively engaged in sharing their experiences and challenges in publishing in reputable journals.

By the end of the workshop, participants were expected to apply the acquired knowledge to enhance the quality of scientific publications, both in national accredited journals and international journals indexed in Scopus.

In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), this activity aims to strengthen research capacity, encourage scientific collaboration, and foster innovation through high-quality academic publications. The workshop reflects USK’s ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable education, research excellence, and global knowledge sharing.
