Banda Aceh – Raden Fhanda Bintang Dwiryo, a student from the Physics Program at Syiah Kuala University (USK), has brought pride to Indonesia by winning a Gold Medal at the 7th International World Invention Competition and Exhibition (WICE) 2025. This prestigious competition took place from September 21–25, 2025, at SEGi University in Kota Damansara, Selangor, Malaysia.

WICE is an international event that brings together students, researchers, and innovators from various countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam, Iran, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Each participant went through a rigorous selection process, starting from abstract submission to live presentations in front of an international jury and innovation booth exhibitions.
In this competition, Raden Fhanda Bintang Dwiryo presented a work entitled “Design of a Community-Based Flood Early Warning System (EWS) in Banda Aceh.” This innovation focuses on the design of a community-based flood early warning system that aims to improve community preparedness in facing disasters. With simple, easy-to-operate technology, this system is expected to strengthen local resilience to potential flooding in Banda Aceh and its surrounding areas.

Winning the gold medal is proof that USK students have the capacity to compete at the global level with innovative solutions based on community needs. This achievement is also expected to motivate Indonesian students to continue working and making real contributions to the nation’s development.
