On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Malaysian time, four students from the Physics Program at Syiah Kuala University (USK) who are currently participating in the International MBKM Program at the School of Physics, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)-namely Dek Rina, Fitdiya Hidayani, Laila Nikmah, and Syifa Cesarina-were received in the dean’s office. The purpose of the four students’ visit was to express their gratitude for being accepted as interns at the School of Physics, USM.
Currently, the four students from the USK Physics Department are under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Fairuz Omar and Dr. Nursakinah, from the Engineering Physics and Medical Physics divisions, respectively, at the School of Physics, USM.
They were warmly welcomed by the Dean of the School of Physics, Prof. Abdul Razak. During the meeting, the students explained that the purpose of the international internship organized by USK-specifically the Department of Physics-is to prepare students and graduates to enter the workforce with diverse skills and experience both domestically and internationally.
Prof. Razak inquired about the internship activities planned for their time at USM. The Dean also advised the interns not to feel overwhelmed by the upcoming series of activities. Students must also be able to adapt to cultures and work styles that may differ, as well as effectively develop cross-cultural communication skills. Additionally, Prof. Razak hopes that the interns will fully grasp the practices and theories taught by supervisors or lecturers in the classroom, so that they can gain globally recognized experience and apply the knowledge they have acquired to the best of their ability (ssy).
