Darussalam – On Friday, February 27, 2024, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held to formulate the vision, mission, direction, and strategy of the Physics Study Program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), USK. The event was conducted in person at the Physics Department Meeting Room, FMIPA, USK, and was opened by the Head of the Physics Department, Dr. Saumi Syahreza.
The Focus Group Discussion was attended by all members of the program’s leadership, namely Dr. Saumi Syahreza (who also serves as Head of the Physics Program), Prof. Dr. Muksin (Head of the Master’s Program in Physics), and Dr. Elin Yusibani (Head of the D3 Electronics Engineering Program), as well as all academic staff within the Department of Physics.
This FGD featured the Head of the USK Quality Assurance Agency (LPM), Prof. Dr. Suhendrayatna, and the First Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the USK Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Dr. Nasrullah, M.Sc. Suhendrayatna stated that the vision and mission of all programs must align with the university’s and faculty’s vision and mission.
This activity is crucialbecause all programs at USK must update their curricula to align with Outcome-Based Education. By updating the curriculum, the goal of improving the quality of higher education can be achieved.
Given USK’s status as a Public University with Special Status (PTN-BH), the curriculum changes also support preparations for international accreditation and the goal of becoming a world-class university (WCU). In the pursuit of WCU status, implementing the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum model is essential.
A vision is a set of values and aspirations. It serves as the guiding perspective and driving force behind performance. This vision is then articulated through mission statements, objectives, and strategies.
The Academic Quality Assurance Team (TPMA), as the unit responsible for quality assurance at the program level, “initiated a focus group discussion (FGD) on the formulation of the vision and mission, where the established vision and mission will serve as a starting point in determining the department’s strategic plan to achieve high-quality internal standards,” stated Committee Chair Zulfalina, M.Si.
