Prof. Dr. Muksin, M.Si, M.Phil

Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Muksin is a geophysicist specializing in seismology, seismic hazard mitigation, and microzonation, integrating methods such as HVSR and InSAR with artificial intelligence. He holds a Dr.rer.nat in Geophysics from Universität Potsdam, along with master’s degrees from Institut Teknologi Bandung and the Australian National University. A professor at Universitas Syiah Kuala, he has extensive international research experience through roles at GFZ Potsdam and RSES–ANU. His recent projects span passive seismic studies, crustal and mantle imaging, geothermal exploration, earthquake-realtime monitoring, and carbon-capture monitoring systems. He collaborates widely with leading institutions in Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and has authored impactful publications on fault systems, volcanic structures, earthquake simulations, and environmental vulnerability. He is also the co-author of a book on earthquake-resistant housing. He is an active member of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, the Indonesian Geophysics Association, and the Indonesian Physics Association.
