Professor of Materials
Prof. Dr. Ir. Ismail AB, M.Sc
Prof. Dr. Ir. Ismail AB, M.Sc., is a Professor of Material Physics in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in material physics, composite physics, solid state physics, quantum mechanics, and classical physics. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and his M.Sc. and Doctoral degrees in Physics from the University of Tennessee, USA. His recent research and development projects focus on biocomposites derived from rice straw, coconut shell, and oil palm empty fruit bunches, including a patented manufacturing process for high-loaded oil palm empty fruit bunch–epoxy resin biocomposites with NaOH treatment. His publications over the last five years address the physical, mechanical, and thermal properties of oil palm empty fruit bunch and sugarcane bagasse epoxy biocomposites, as well as the thermal performance of coconut shell nanoparticle–based insulation and spent coffee ground biocomposites, carried out in collaboration with partners at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, and USK. A member of the Physical Society of Indonesia, Prof. Ismail AB teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
