Irwandi, S.Si, M.Si,Ph.D

Irwandi, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in computational physics, geoscience, and STEM education. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from USK, his Master’s degree in Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Trieste, Italy. He has served as Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Electronic Engineering in the Physics Department and currently leads the USK STEM Research Center. His recent projects include removing subject segregation and gender bias in STEM through makerspace and FabLab access, integrating ISLE into science instruction to strengthen STEM teaching, and developing and commercializing IoT-based STEM learning modules and IMAGy-based practical tools. He collaborates with institutions in Malaysia, Japan, Egypt, and Indonesia, and holds copyrights for an IMAGy-based shaking table Stewart platform and a geotechnics mind-mapping learning tool. His publications span regional-scale seismic hazard computation for Sumatra, neodeterministic seismic hazard analysis, STEM and e-learning interventions to reduce student misconceptions, and contributions to Aceh seismicity studies. Irwandi is a member of the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI) and the Indonesian Association of STEM Education (PPSTEMI), and teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
