Dr. Nasrullah Zaini, S.Si., M.Si., M.Sc., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in mineral and rock physics, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS). He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from USK, a Master’s degree in Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and a second Master’s degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation for Environmental Modelling and Management (GEM), an Erasmus Mundus program jointly offered by the University of Southampton, Lund University, the University of Warsaw, and ITC in the Netherlands, before completing his Ph.D. in Earth Systems Science at the University of Twente, The Netherlands. His recent research focuses on geothermal systems and environmental monitoring, including gravity- and satellite-based mapping of the Peut Sagoe volcanic geothermal system, thermal infrared and NIR spectroscopy for geothermal exploration at Geureudong Volcano, and 3D inversion of VLF-EM and resistivity data to characterize shallow hydrothermal systems at Jaboi Volcano. He maintains an active collaboration with the Department of Earth Systems Analysis at ITC, University of Twente, on remote sensing and infrared spectroscopy for geothermal and mineral resource exploration in Aceh, and holds a registered copyright for the SIPLAB-V2 software for practicum attendance and management. His publications over the last five years include work on integrated remote sensing and geophysical evaluation of hydrothermal systems, LIBS-based identification of lithium minerals, satellite-based analysis of urban air pollutants and heat island effects, groundwater investigation using vertical electrical sounding, and gravity-based local fault mapping around Jaboi Volcano. Dr. Zaini is a member of the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI) and the Indonesian Association of Geophysicists (HAGI), and teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
