Dr. Muhammad Isa, S.Si, M.Si
Dr. Ir. Muhammad Isa, S.Si., M.Si., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in geophysics, electronics and instrumentation, geothermal systems, and volcanology. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from USK, a Master’s degree in Geophysics from Universitas Gadjah Mada, and a Doctorate in Physics from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He has served as Head of the Bachelor’s Program in Geophysics Engineering at the Faculty of Earth Engineering, USK; Head of the Fundamental Physics Laboratory; and currently leads the Laboratory of Seismology and Dynamics of the Earth’s Crust. His recent projects include geothermal potential assessment at Jaboi, Sabang using integrated geoscience and satellite data, 3D VLF-EM and resistivity inversion for shallow hydrothermal system mapping at Seulawah Agam and Jaboi volcanoes, Arduino-based needle probe design for subsurface temperature modeling, and thermal activity monitoring of Seulawah Agam using multi-source satellite data, in collaboration with BMKG and the Aceh Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Office. He holds a registered copyright for a book on geothermal energy exploration and has published on satellite-based analysis of urban air pollutants and heat islands, mineral and petrophysical characterization using infrared spectroscopy, and geoelectrical modeling of geothermal springs. Dr. Isa is a member of the Indonesian Geophysics Association (HAGI), the Indonesian Physics Association (PSI), and the Indonesian Association of Geophysical Education (APPGI), and teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
