Dr. Kurnia Lahna, MT

Dr. Kurnia Lahna, S.Si., M.T., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy, and optics. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), his Master’s degree in Optoelectronics from Universitas Indonesia (UI), and his Doctorate in Physics from USK. He has served as Head of the Physics Department (2000–2003) and Head of the GOAL Laboratory (2015-2019). His recent work focuses on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for the analysis of tsunami-affected soils, biological and agricultural samples, and environmental heavy metal pollution, carried out in collaboration with the Research Center of the Maju Makmur Mandiri Foundation (MMM) in Jakarta and partners in Indonesia and abroad. He has published on LIBS-based elemental analysis, geochemistry of tsunami soils, and laser-plasma diagnostics, and is a member of the Indonesian Physics Association (PSI). Dr. Lahna teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK, in areas including thin films, optics, modern physics, waves, thermodynamics, electronics, and entrepreneurship management.
