Field of Study: Theoretical and Computational Physics

Dr. Gunawati, S.Si, M.Si

Dr. Gunawati, S.Si., M.Si., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in theoretical physics and phase change materials for thermal energy storage. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), her Master’s degree in Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and her Doctorate in Physics from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). She has served as Head of the Thermodynamic and Energy Conservation Laboratory and of the Theoretical and Computational Physics Laboratory in the Physics Department. Her recent work focuses on the characterization and heat treatment of traditional Acehnese salt as a candidate thermal energy storage material, and on the design of performance test equipment for phase-change materials, in collaboration with the Aceh Provincial Marine and Fisheries Service. Her publications span thermal and physical properties of mixed chloride salts for solar thermal storage, calibration of Arduino-based temperature sensors for parabolic solar collectors, and studies on microwave signal attenuation, wind energy potential, and magnetic field anomaly interpretation. She is a member of the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI) and teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
