Dr. Didik Sugiyanto, S.Si, MT

Dr. Ir. Didik Sugiyanto, S.Si., M.T., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in geophysics, particularly near-surface geophysics, geohazards, and disaster mitigation. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Master’s degree in Geophysical Engineering, and Doctorate in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering, all from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. He has served as Head of the Geophysics Laboratory (2017–2020) and currently leads the Geophysics Peer Group in the Physics Department (2021–present). His recent projects include landslide hazard investigation along the Jantho–Lamno corridor using integrated resistivity and slope data, Arduino-based needle probe design for subsurface temperature modeling at Seulawah Agam volcano, active fault structure analysis of the Aceh segment of the Sumatra Fault using resistivity and gravity data, and a wireless sensor network–based early warning system for building fire hazards. He collaborates with Nagoya University (Japan) and ITB, holds a copyrighted book on lightning disaster mitigation for the city of Subulussalam, and has published on topics such as disaster literacy, serpentinite distribution mapping, flash-flood preparedness, lightning strike characteristics, and geothermal magnetic investigations. Dr. Sugiyanto is a member of the Indonesian Geophysics Association and the Indonesian Physics Association and teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
