
Banda Aceh (11/02/2026) – The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) held a retirement farewell to honor one of its senior members and an important figure in the department’s early history, Dr. Kurnia Lahna. The event served as a moment of appreciation and gratitude for his dedication since the Department of Physics was first established.

From the department’s formative years, Dr. Kurnia Lahna played a meaningful role in building the academic foundation and work culture within the Department of Physics. Throughout his career, he was widely known as a lecturer who taught with steadfast commitment, discipline, and consistency, instilling a strong sense of responsibility and scientific integrity in his students.
Beyond his contributions in the classroom, Dr. Kurnia Lahna is remembered as a lecturer admired across generations. His ability to connect socially and adapt to students from different eras helped create a learning environment that was both approachable and respectful. Many alumni recall him as a mentor who was not only academically firm, but also genuinely attentive to students’ growth and needs.
During his years of service, Dr. Kurnia Lahna also held several key leadership roles. He served as Head of the Department, Head of Laboratory, and contributed significantly to student organizations, supporting student development and strengthening the department’s academic community.
The entire family of the Department of Physics, FMIPA USK extends its deepest appreciation for Dr. Kurnia Lahna’s service, leadership, and exemplary dedication.
