Padang, 2025 – Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) students have once again achieved a proud accomplishment in the National Writing Competition (NWC) 2025, a national scientific essay competition held by Andalas University (UNAND) Padang. In this prestigious competition, the USK team, consisting of Raden Fhanda Bintang Dwiryo from the Physics Study Program and Lurii Cintami Aprilia from the Chemistry Study Program, won the Bronze Medal for their scientific essay titled “IMUNITEM: Gut Microbiome Innovation to Improve the Effectiveness of Immunotherapy in Cancer Patients.”

This scientific work presents an innovative idea about the use of the gut microbiome as a new approach to improve the effectiveness of immunotherapy in cancer patients. By combining scientific insights from the fields of physics and chemistry, this team presented a science-based development concept that has the potential to support an increase in the body’s immune response to cancer treatment.

The NWC 2025 competition itself was attended by hundreds of students from various universities throughout Indonesia, with the main theme of “Scientific Innovation and Solutions for Indonesia’s Future.” Through this event, participants were challenged to express their creative and scientific ideas in the form of essays oriented towards innovation and national progress.

This success cannot be separated from the guidance of Mrs. Intan Mulia Sari, M.Si., as the supervising lecturer who played a role in directing and motivating the team during the writing process. “We are very grateful for this achievement. Through the IMUNITEM essay, we want to show that synergy between disciplines can produce ideas that are relevant and beneficial for the development of the world of health in the future,” said Raden Fhanda Bintang Dwiryo, as team leader.

This achievement serves as tangible proof that students from Universitas Syiah Kuala can compete at the national level and continue to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and innovation. It is hoped that this accomplishment will inspire other students to keep creating and bring honor to the university in various scientific competitions.
