Banda Aceh – The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), proudly extends its warmest congratulations to Prof. Dr. Muksin, S.Si., M.Si., M.Phil. on his appointment as Head of the Disaster Mitigation Unit (UPT Mitigasi Bencana) and Director of the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC), Universitas Syiah Kuala, for the 2026–2031 term.
This appointment reflects the University’s confidence in Prof. Muksin’s leadership and his longstanding commitment to advancing disaster science, geophysics, and risk reduction research. As one of Indonesia’s leading research centers in disaster mitigation, TDMRC plays a strategic role in promoting scientific innovation, community resilience, and evidence-based policies for disaster risk reduction.
As a distinguished faculty member of the Department of Physics, Prof. Muksin has made significant contributions to education, research, and community engagement. His expertise in geophysics and disaster mitigation, combined with his extensive academic and professional experience, has greatly strengthened the Department’s reputation both nationally and internationally.
The Department of Physics believes that under Prof. Muksin’s leadership, TDMRC will continue to expand its impact through interdisciplinary research, stronger national and international collaborations, and innovative solutions that address the growing challenges posed by natural hazards and climate-related disasters. His leadership is also expected to foster closer collaboration between the Department of Physics, TDMRC, government agencies, industry partners, and the broader scientific community.
