Prof. Dr. Ir.. Muhammad Syukri, S.Si, M.T., IPM., ASEAN.Eng
Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Syukri, S.Si., MT, IPM, ASEAN.Eng, is a Professor in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), with research interests in geophysics, environmental geophysics, exploration geophysics, and Earth physics. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), a Master’s degree in Geophysics from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), and a Doctorate in Geophysics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and holds a professional engineering qualification (IPM, ASEAN.Eng) from USK. He has served in various academic leadership roles, including Professor of Physics, Secretary of the Integrated Laboratory, Manager of the Competency Testing Center (TUK), Head of Learning and Academic Student Activities at the Directorate of Education and Learning, and Vice Dean for Academic and Collaboration Affairs, as well as Head of the Geophysics Laboratory. His recent research projects focus on subsurface resistivity modeling for road failure analysis, landslide potential mapping using integrated DEM and MASW data, evaluation of liquefaction-related weak zones from electrical logging, seawater intrusion and groundwater discharge studies for plantation management, flood management scenarios based on hydrodynamic simulation, and shallow-structure characterization related to land subsidence in Aceh. He maintains active collaborations in Indonesia and Malaysia on research, publications, and student supervision, has developed a copyrighted Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) research-based learning model, and has published on extreme weather hazards, tsunami impacts on soil salinity, integrated geophysical approaches for landslide risk mitigation, suspended sediment transport dynamics, and seismic-parameter-based soil classification for disaster mitigation. Prof. Syukri is a member of the Physical Society of Indonesia (PSI), the Indonesian Association of Geophysicists (HAGI), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), and FORSTAN, and teaches in both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Physics at USK.
