Banda Aceh, May 31, 2025 – The Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), proudly extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest gratitude for the remarkable achievement of its student, Dek Rina, who won the gold medal at the 9th World Young Inventors Exhibition (WYIE) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (May 29–31, 2025). This outstanding accomplishment brings immense pride to the Department of Physics, FMIPA, and the entire Acehnese community.
Dek Rina, a student from the Physics Department, developed an innovative device titled “Densitymeter Patchouli Oil: The Future of Patchouli Oil Purity Control.” This breakthrough tool addresses a major challenge in the agricultural product processing industry by providing an efficient and science-based method to assess the purity of patchouli oil. Her invention triumphed over participants from 19 countries in this prestigious international competition held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
The Head of the Department of Physics, FMIPA USK, expressed joy and gratitude for this success, stating:
“We are deeply proud and thankful for Dek Rina’s achievement. Her success not only reflects the academic excellence of Acehnese students on the international stage but also highlights the real-world contributions of physics to sustainable industrial innovation. We hope her accomplishment inspires more young people in Aceh to pursue creativity and research for global impact.”
The event, officially opened and closed by Professor Emeritus Sri Datuk Dr. Augustein Ong Soon Hock, President of the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS), showcased how young innovators from around the world contribute to solving real-world problems. Dek Rina’s success reinforces the commitment of the Department of Physics, USK, to promoting research and innovation aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – particularly Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) – by advancing environmentally responsible and economically beneficial technologies.
The Department of Physics, FMIPA USK, once again congratulates Dek Rina for her dedication, creativity, and perseverance. May this achievement mark the beginning of many more milestones that bring pride to Aceh, Indonesia, and the world.
